If you are having trouble contacting someone on WhatsApp, the user may have blocked you. While there is no surefire way to avoid being blocked, there are signs you can look for to confirm your suspicions. This will teach you how to look for signs that you have been blocked on WhatsApp.
1. Open WhatsApp.
It's a green icon with a white chat bubble and a phone receiver inside.
2. Tap on Chats.
It is at the bottom of the page. This will show a list of your conversations.
3. Tap on the conversation with the person you think has blocked you.
Your chat page will open with this user.
4. Check that the user is online.
If the user currently has WhatsApp open and you are not blocked, you will see the word “Online” at the top of the conversation. If you don't see “online,” it could mean one of two things: the person hasn't opened WhatsApp on their phone, or they've blocked you.
5. Look for the last time the person was online (last seen).
If the user is not currently “online”, you may see “Last Seen” at the top of the chat, along with the date and time they last opened the app. If you do not see this information, it may be because the user has disabled this feature for privacy purposes. It can also indicate that you have been blocked.
6. Look for two check marks (dotted in bold blue) next to a sent message.
When you send a message to a contact who hasn't blocked you, you'll see two check marks to the right of the time indicator – one check mark means the message was sent, and the other means it was delivered. If the second sign never appears, you may be blocked. However, this could also mean that the user's phone is out of service or has uninstalled the app.
7. Look for profile changes.
Tap on a person's name in a conversation to view their profile. When you are blocked on WhatsApp, the user profile will never change for you. If you have reason to believe that this user has changed their status or profile picture and you cannot see the changes, you may be blocked.
8. Try to contact the user.
Tapping the phone receiver icon in the upper right corner of a chat will initiate a voice call for that user. If the call does not start ringing the user, it means that they have blocked you. However, this could also mean that they have disabled voice calls in their privacy settings.
